Davis Erection was founded in 1978 by
Sherry and Jeff Davis performing structural
steel erection and rebar installation. From
the onset, their foremost goal was to
provide unmatched customer service and
the highest quality of work with
knowledgeable, experienced craftsmen at a
competitive cost. Jeff Davis has stated, “Our
success has been consistently hiring quality
people, providing them the best tools,
equipment and training, and allowing them
the opportunity to perform.” This basic
philosophy is still adhered
to today.
Throughout the years, Davis Erection has
looked to expand in the service industry.
Davis recognized the need for short term
hoisting of materials in the area. In 1982,
the crane service division began with the
hiring of Randy Greer. The new division’s
mission was to be the best crane service in
the Midwest. This offered Davis the
opportunity to purchase a wide variety of
equipment and enhance its current
business. Currently, there are seven offices
to cover Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, and
Southwestern Minnesota. There are over
70 cranes in our fleet ranging from 4 tons
to 500 tons to meet the needs of our clients.
With the hiring of Larry Keith in
1987, Davis Erection Company was
able to pursue larger projects, with
complex and demanding critical path
schedules. These projects included:
- Beta West/The Landmark Center
- (I-80)-(I480) Interchange Bridges
- University of Nebraska Stadium Scoreboard, Husker Vision and Skyboxes
- Strategic Air Command Museum
- 1st National Bank Boystown Business Park (5 buildings)
- Harvey’s and Ameristar Casinos
Davis Erection Company acquired Hughes
Steel Erection and Crane Service in 1994.
The Sioux City, Iowa, based company was
predominantly a pre-engineered metal
building erector and a plant maintenance
company.
In 1995, Davis Erection Company became
an authorized dealer for Terex and Marklift
equipment. These dealers gave Davis its
first taste of crane sales and services.

an area office in Lincoln, Nebraska, providing the same professional services with qualified personnel and
well maintained equipment.
Davis Erection Company also purchased
Northwest Steel Erection, a Des Moines,
Iowa, based steel erection company in
1996. Northwest Steel serves the central
Iowa market, erecting precast concrete and
structural steel.
In 1997, two new companies were created, Crane Rental & Rigging and Industrial
Equipment Sales & Service. This new formulation added increased flexibility,
efficiency and synergy. Crane Rental & Rigging was added to each office and
currently has a crane fleet of over seventy cranes.
During 1998, Hughes Steel Erection and
Crane Rental & Rigging expanded into the
Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This would
increase Davis Erection’s presence to
Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota. Also,
Davis Erection Company became an
authorized dealer for P & H, Manitex, and
Aichi Equipment.
In 1999, Crane Sales & Service Division
began. Its role is to sell new and used

its clients, including service, preventative
maintenance, parts, and training. Crane
Sales & Service was awarded the Link-Belt
